Community SHREDDING Day

Lower Lot, Town Offices

Bring personal and confidential papers to our Community Shredding Day! Please do not bring items that can be placed in curbside recycling, such as newspapers, catalogs, magazines, junk mail, and so on.

STYROFOAM Drop-Off Day

Thank you to everyone who dropped off their styrofoam on Saturday, January 21st. The town collected an estimated 800 lbs of styrofoam and filled a 28-foot trailer!! Another event will be planned, stay tuned for detials!

Change in items for
Trash Pickup and Recycling Guidelines

STARTING JULY 1, 2010

TRASH
To curb by 6:30 a.m.

  • Each household allowed to put out up to two 32 gallon barrels or bags of trash.
  • Overflow bags (more than two barrels or bags) can be purchased for $2 (sleeve of five) at Agway, No. Chelmsford Hardware, Hannaford, Stop and Shop, and Walgreens.
  • One oversized item (e.g., furniture, mattress) per household is allowed item per week.
   
RECYCLING
To curb by 6:30 a.m.
  • Single stream recycling—recyclables no longer need to be separated, although you can if you like
  • No limit on amount of recycling
  • Use Town recycling bins
  • Trash type barrels (up to 64 gallons) with Recycling sticker (available from Recycling Office)
  • NO PLASTIC BAGS in recycling
  • Corrugated cardboard should be flattened and cut into 3'x3' pieces.

Recycling Champion

Do you know a RECYCLING CHAMPION? Someone who recycles everything they can? Has less trash than recycling? Has memorized the annual Recycling Flyer and is a neighborhood expert on REDUCING, REUSING, and SAVING the town money?

The Chelmsford Recycling Committee (CRC) is accepting nominations for Recycling Champions. The CRC will interview nominees and evaluate their curbside recycling skills.
